Tourism Whistler is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely. We are staying in close contact with our resort and industry partners, and we are committed to keeping our membership informed as the situation evolves.

Travel Updates

Effective October 1, 2022, all travellers, regardless of citizenship, will no longer have to provide proof of vaccination, be required to use the ArriveCAN app, nor be required to wear masks on federally regulated modes of transportation. COVID-19 Vaccination Information

Vancouver Coastal Health continues to work with the Province of BC to implement the COVID-19 Immunization Plan.

Ensure you are registered in the provincial Get Vaccinated system to receive your Booster invitation, which will help you maintain protection against COVID-19.

COVID-19 Guidance for Businesses

Communicable Disease Prevention Plans

Communicable disease prevention focuses on basic risk reduction principles to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases, such as norovirus and seasonal influenza.

Guidelines provided by WorkSafeBC are available to help businesses develop communicable disease prevention plans. Communicable disease plans do not need to be written, posted or approved by WorkSafeBC.

Remember that the provincial health and safety guidelines can be viewed as the minimum requirements to be met. You know your operation, customers, community, and your staff members better than anyone. If extra steps are required to help people feel safe, take them.

BSAFE - Online Health & Safety Training Program

BC Safety Assured For Everyone (BSAFE) is a new and free online health and safety training program offered in partnership with the provincial government and go2HR. The program is designed to ensure foundational health and safety knowledge in BC’s tourism and hospitality businesses in order to keep everyone safe as we move through the COVID-19 pandemic. Both employers and employees are encouraged to register for the online program. Learn more about BSAFE here.

Recommended Key Messaging

At this time, Tourism Whistler recommends the following key messaging:

  • Whistler is open and visitors are welcome!

  • Health and safety remain top of mind for Whistler. Visit the Whistler Doors Open Directory to learn how local businesses are upholding the highest of standards in health and safety for all.

  • Learn more about BC’s province-wide COVID-19 restrictions on the Government of British Columbia’s website.

  • Please be patient. Businesses across the hospitality sector are struggling with ongoing labour challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These labour challenges are resulting in some businesses needing to modify their available services and hours of operation. We ask all visitors to Whistler to be understanding and respectful of the current situation, and we thank you for being kind to employees who are working extremely hard in these challenging conditions.

  • Visitors are strongly encouraged to do their research ahead of time, to arrive with a plan, and to make restaurant and activity reservations in advance. When in-resort, visit whistler.com/maps for up-to-date information on local businesses, including hours of operation and periodic closures.

Information & Updates

Guest Information & Visitor Servicing

Tourism Whistler has created a guest-facing Know Before You Go: COVID-19 Information and Resources for Travellers page on whistler.com with local, provincial and federal updates. View the page at whistler.com/covid and please share this link through your channels to help visitors plan and prepare for their trip.

The Whistler Visitor Centre is open from 9am to 5pm daily. Alternatively, guests can call 1.800.944.7853 or use the Ask Whistler mobile chat service to speak with a Whistler.com agent who can answer questions and provide resort information.

The Front Line page on the member website has additional tools and resources for front line staff and conceriges who regularly interact with visitors.

Anyone with health questions or symptoms related to COVID-19 should use the COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool or call 8-1-1 to speak to a health care professional. Anyone in Whistler requiring non-emergent care can contact the Whistler Virtual Walk-In Clinic or call the Whistler Health Care Centre at 604.932.4911.

COVID-19 Testing for Travellers

There are a number of accredited COVID-19 testing sites now available locally in Whistler for travellers with access to both PCR and Rapid Antigen travel tests. Full COVID-19 testing details including pricing can be found on the COVID-19 Information and Resources Hub for travellers on whistler.com/covid.

Additionally, COVID-19 testing programs are also available at the Vancouver International Airport and there is also a list of private COVID-19 testing facilities for travellers available on the BC Centre for Disease Control website.

Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb is open for summer operations. The Bike Park is open daily, and sightseeing is available via the Blackcomb Gondola and Whistler Village Gondola. Please see Whistler Blackcomb’s Hours of Operation for full details. Reservations are no longer required to access on-mountain restaurants. Research Insights

Throughout the pandemic, the Tourism Whistler Research department has been focused on monitoring resort performance, industry trends and best practices, as well as forecasting and scenario planning to help with business recovery planning.
